David W. Kynoch, 78, longtime resident of Ucon, passed away on May 17, 2010, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center from a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. He was born March 14, 1932, in San Rafael, California, to David Kynoch and Teresa Bettencourt Kynoch. Dave graduated from Galileo High School in California and then joined the U.S. Navy as a radio operator on the Destroyer USS Waller where he served in the Korean War. Upon his return home, he married Barbara King in 1956 and soon thereafter received his Journeyman's Mechanic Degree. His love and respect of animals is well known from pets to hunting. He was an avid gun lover and a skilled shooter since childhood. Dave had many talents; he was strong, honest and a friend to everyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever one was needed. He could rebuild a transmission and solve an engine problem with little effort. Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, and time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends. Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara King Kynoch, of Ucon; 4 children: David Kynoch of Beirut, Lebenon; Denise Kynoch (Larry Hoopes) of Rigby; Jeff Kynoch (Cindy) of Idaho Falls; Kenny Kynoch of Los Angeles, California; 5 grandchildren: Paul, David, Trina, Jessie and Adam and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; a sister, Violet (Stanley) Jensen of Millvalley, California and a brother-in-law, W.C. Charlie' Ruggles, of Sonoma, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Marianne. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
