IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Marlow
March 5, 1943 – November 10, 2024
David Marlow, friend, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
David was born on March 5, 1943, to Wilburn E. and Elna Call Marlow at his parents' home in Wapello, Idaho. David was the third child, having two sisters and two brothers: Forrest Marlow of Blackfoot, Idaho; Gayleen Jensen, whose life was taken in an automobile accident July 13, 2005, of Pocatello, Idaho; Ruth Ann (Kraig) Gold of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Dennis (Mary Jo) Marlow of Wapello, Idaho. They were all raised in a farming environment, learning skills of caring for animals and working hard.
David graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1961. He received a scholarship to the Grimms Business College in Pocatello. Later David served a two-year Mission to the Northern California Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with headquarters in Oakland, California.
After David returned from his mission, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended a court reporting school in the evenings and drove delivery trucks during the day. To complete his court reporting training, he moved to Denver, Colorado. While in Denver attending college, he met Nancy Garton of Ft. Collins, Colorado. They were married on August 4, 1972, with the marriage solemnized in the Boise Idaho Temple on May 17, 1985. At this time Nancy was working as a court reporter in Boulder, Colorado, until David completed school and obtained a reporting position with the Industrial Commission in Boise, Idaho, where he worked for 12 years.
David is the father of two children: Rebecca Lynn Marlow, now residing in Quartzsite, Arizona, and Kristy Lynn (Dale) Cecil of Ammon, Idaho. He also has been blessed with three wonderful grandchildren: Logan David Ferguson, Tanner Cecil, and Nevaeh Cecil.
David was always one to do business ventures. While living in Boise, David opened a court reporting school, a freelance court reporting business and a vending machine business.
In October of 1990, David secured a court reporting position with the Seventh Judicial District, with chambers at the Madison County Courthouse in Rexburg, Idaho, where he had the great pleasure of working with Judges Grant Young, Brent J. Moss and Gregory W. Moeller until he retired in October of 2013.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David held many callings. Most of them were teaching, but the one that brought him the most pleasure was as a volunteer teacher in the Institute Program where he taught a night class for over 15 years. He also served as a substitute teacher in the high school seminary program. He had the pleasure of teaching on several occasions in each high school in the area, including Rexburg, Rigby, Ririe, and all the high schools in the Idaho Falls area. It was such a pleasure to receive a wedding announcement or a brief letter from a student who had attended his class years before thanking him for his testimony and influence in their life.
During these last few years, David has enjoyed sharing his keen gospel knowledge by writing some 20 plus books of inspiration and has shared these books with as many as 50 readers at a time. He would send these books out monthly, calling it his book of the month club. His greatest joy was receiving the many thoughts of gratitude on just how these books touched the lives of those that received them.
David will be missed by family, friends and associates who appreciated his unique sense of humor, quick wit and always a word of encouragement.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Aspen Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to David and the support they showed the family.
