Obituary

David William Thornock, 60, of Rigby, died October 11, 2009, at his home of cancer. He had been under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. He was born November 8, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to William Thomas Thornock and Beverly Virginia Gallup Thornock. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1970 in Vietnam. On Aug. 28, 1971, he married Lana Chriswell and they lived in Boise. Two children were born to this union. Following his divorce in 1979, he lived and trapped in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming for a short time before returning to Idaho Falls. On May 31, 1997, he married Loy Tryk in Rigby. He worked throughout southeastern Idaho in construction and doing maintenance and janitorial work. He was last employed by Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and at the time of his death, he was living in Rigby. He was a recent convert of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed trapping, fishing, gardening, cooking, electronics, astronomy, wood carving, and cross country skiing. David loved the peace, the serenity, and the solitude of being in the outdoors. He has now found the total peace he had been searching for. We love you David; your family will greatly miss you! He is survived by his wife, Loy Thornock of Rigby; son, Gabriel Shawn and a daughter, Sara Naomi both of Boise, Idaho; step-daughters: Stacie (Michael) Tonks of Clinton, Utah, and Kellie (Jeremy) Hebdon of Missoula, Montana; mother, Beverly Robison of Longview, Washington; brother, Rick (Toni) Thornock of Greeley, Colorado; sister, Gina (Gil) Faber of Vernonia, Oregon; and 1 granddaughter, Megan. He was preceded in death by his father, William Thornock; a sister, Teri; his father-in-law, Deloy Kelsey; and sister-in-law, Trina Kelsey. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2009. at the Shelton LDS Ward Chapel, 198 N. 4300 E. with Bishop Danny Ferguson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho. Military rites will be by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the National Vietnam Veterans of America; 8605 Cameron St; Silver Springs, MD; 20910 or the Easter Seal Foundation, 441 Yellowstone Ave., Pocatello, Idaho, 83201.
