IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David W.
Wilson
December 30, 1942 – July 3, 2005
David W. Wilson, 62, of Idaho Falls, died July 3, 2005, at his home.
He was born December 30, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Leo W. Wilson and Phyllis M. Lenway Wilson. In 1960, he graduated from Washington High School. He attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. He worked as a draftsman for Amana Refrigeration in Cedar Rapids.
In 1963, he married Jolene Deerberg of Lowden, Iowa, and they had one daughter, Andrea. They were later divorced. They moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, where he was a broker for Pet Foods before joining Idaho Fresh-Pak. He was transferred to Minneapolis and later to Idaho Falls. David also worked with Blaine Larsen Farms and was part-owner of Mountain River Produce. Most recently, he was a realtor with Voigt Davis Realty in Idaho Falls.
David was an avid supporter of the Arts in Idaho Falls. He was past president of the Idaho Falls Symphony Board, a member of the U.S. Tennis Association and the Red Cross. He was currently serving as the president of the Idaho Falls Zoological Board.
Although David was often working, entertaining friends or caring for Hannah, the dog he and Pat shared, he loved the outdoors and could be found on the golf course, on the tennis court, or fly-fishing on the Snake River. He had a passion for cooking, a love of photography and secretly enjoyed playing the guitar. David will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by the following: loving companion, Patricia Scott of Idaho Falls; daughter, Andrea, and grandchildren, Courtney and Cameron Pennington of Highlands, TX; mother, Phyllis Wilson of Cedar Rapids, IA; brothers, Steven Wilson of Minneapolis, MN and Timothy (Sue) of Oregon, Wisconsin; and a sister, Anne (Tate) Preston of Wayzata, MN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Wilson in 2000.
Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Friday, July 8, 2005, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
Additional services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 610 31st St. S.E. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the Tautphaus Park Zoo, P.O. Box 50220, Idaho Falls, ID 83405; Idaho Arts Council, 498 A. St. Idaho Falls, ID 83402; or For the Animals, 665 Matchpoint Dr., Idaho Falls, ID 83406.
