Dayton Marvin Kluksdal, 85, of Ammon, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Lily and Syringa Assisted Living. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice, his son and daughter-in-law, Darryl and Corrinne.
Dayton attended Driscoll High School in Driscoll, North Dakota, and graduated in 1953 at the age of 16. That following summer he played baseball for the Bismarck Legion Club as the pitcher and was later recruited to a baseball camp in Bakersfield, California. The following 3 years he played within the Cincinnati Farm System and at one time reached a Triple-A level in Redding, Pennsylvania.
In 1957, Dayton ended up in Idaho Falls working in various jobs and met his wife-to-be, Bonnie Miller. To this union, they had 2 sons, Darnell, and Darryl. In 1960, he joined the military and was assigned for 2 years in Germany until 1963.
Dayton was an adventurous one, he became a merchant marine man and traveled around the world for 7 plus years.
In 1970, he made his residence in his favorite city of New York. He became a radio host commentator and met and married a Swiss-born girl, Sylvia. Shortly thereafter he bought a New York Cab Medallion and for 12 years he was a cab owner and driver in the Big Apple. When they decided to sell the business, they chose to move to the snow country of North Central Minnesota.
Dayton being the adventurous one, trained and drove long-distance semi-trucks for the remainder of his working years. After 3 years and the death of his sweetheart, Sylvia, he moved into Lily & Syringa in Idaho Falls.
