Randle Dean Edie Sr., 84, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.

Dean was born on December 16, 1932, to Henry Randle and Della Rozelliah Edie, in Dubois, Idaho. He grew up in Medicine Lodge, Dubois and Pocatello. He graduated from Dubois High School in 1949.

He served in the United States Army as corporal during the Korean War.

On May 16, 1956, he married Marion Irene Atwood in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Marion died on August 13, 2002. He married Donna K. Nelson on June 10, 2003.

Dean worked for Ford dealerships in Idaho Falls.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as ward missionary, High Priests Quorum secretary and as a home teacher.

Dean enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Flinstones square dance club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, four wheeling and tinkering with engines.

Dad often appeared to be grouchy and grumpy, but those who knew him well knew he was loving, kind and generous.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Nelson Edie, of Idaho Falls; his sons: Randy (Joyce) Edie, of Blackfoot, Roy Edie, of Rigby, and Jeff (Laurie) Edie, of Idaho Falls; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Edie; his parents, Henry and Della Edie; his brother, Alden Edie; his grandsons: Jason Edie and Andrew Edie.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Willowbrook LDS Ward, 1200 Dunbar, with Bishop Shawn Orgill officiating.  The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Dubois Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Mud Lake Veterans.
