Obituary

Dean Edward Laurance, 89, of Idaho Falls, son of Verna May Giddings and Henry Edward Laurance, loving husband of Patricia Laurance, passed away at his home, on Monday, January 25, 2016.
Dean was born on Valentine's Day, 1927, in Polk County, Oregon.

He served his country in the Navy, during WWII. During his military service Dean repaired radios and Morris Code machines. The Navy sent him on secret missions all over the world, from Alaska to Australia.

Dean opened the first hearing aid business, Custom Hearing, in Idaho Falls, in the 1950's. He was the oldest licensed hearing aid dealer in the United States, and worked up until a month before his passing.

He married his "sweetheart" Patricia Miller, on July 3, 1985. He formed many happy memories with his wife, and family, snowmobiling. Everyone had matching jackets! He also enjoyed taking his family fishing, and tubing off his jumbo boat, the El Camino. Dean loved spending time up at Island Park, at his cabin. He was sure to provide plenty of peanuts for the squirrels, and sunflower seeds for the chipmunks and birds. Dean delighted in going to baseball games with his "Sweetheart", and taking her out for breakfast. He truly enjoyed his grandchildren, and great grand babies. Just a week prior to his passing, he was handing out Hershey chocolates to all the little ones visiting him.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Laurance; his children: Dean Jr. (Patricia) Laurance, Cherie Laurance and Helen Fransen; his step children: Larry (Jill) Fransen, Pamela (Travis) Woolford, Brenda (Morgan) Andrus, and Jon (Ebony) Fransen; his younger sister, Laurene Frank, and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dean was honorable, smart, and could fix anything! Dean was always ready for fun, and a good laugh. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.
