IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Debra Dawn
Lowder
September 19, 1952 – September 22, 2021
Debra (Debbie) Dawn Lowder, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at home. She was under the care of her family and Hands of Hope Hospice.
Debbie was born on September 19, 1952, in Rigby, Idaho to Douglas Levi Coles and Carole Elaine Anderson Myler. She grew up in Southeast Idaho and Southern California. She graduated from Madison High School in 1970. She attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.
On November 17, 1972, she married the man of her dreams, Val Dean Lowder, in Rexburg, Idaho. They were sealed one year later in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had 6 children together but ended up "adopting" and loving many more over the years.
Debbie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Relief Society and Primary Presidents, as well as many years as a scout leader. She received the Silver Beaver Award for 10 years of service in scouting. She especially enjoyed being a temple worker for 6 years in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Debbie loved serving others, especially if it involved baking pies, going to the temple, or making a big breakfast for visitors. She loved celebrating the holidays and making gingerbread houses. She loved trips with her husband, especially going to Hawaii with him. One of her greatest joys was being a "Grandma Debbie". She loved her grandkids and her favorite thing was taking them shoe shopping (or any shopping really). Her sunny disposition and boundless energy was infectious, and anyone lucky enough to be in her home came away feeling like family - and with a few treats from the "Grandma" drawer! Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family. Every minute spent with family was precious time but those moments with her grandkids were her greatest joy!
She is survived by her husband, Val Dean Lowder of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her son, Wade (Crystal) Lowder of Pocatello, Idaho; her daughter, Trina (Gabriel) Peterson of Denton, Texas; her daughter, Janae Lowder of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her daughter, Melinda (Shane) Terry of Kuna, Idaho; her daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Reynolds of Saratoga Springs, Utah; her son Wesley (Jenn) Lowder of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her mother, Carole Myler of Rigby, Idaho; her sister, Rosanne (Doug) Anderson of Basin City, Washington; her stepbrother, Jeff (Vicki) Myler of Rigby, Idaho; her stepmother, Darlene Coles of Rexburg, Idaho; her stepsister, Tammy (Eric) Gee of Sugar City, Idaho; her stepsister, Kathy (Christian) Godfrey of Rexburg, Idaho; her stepbrother, Kevin (Melissa) Coles of Sugar City, Idaho; 22 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Coles; and her sister, Pam Shelton.
