IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dee Lowell
Fuller
January 21, 1934 – April 30, 2017
Dee Lowell Fuller, 83, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, at his home in Ucon, after a courageous battle with dementia and associated complications.
Dee was born January 21, 1934, in Elgin, Oregon, to George Lowell and Pearl Marie (Byrne) Fuller. At the age of 14, the family moved to Baker, Oregon. At his first social event in town he met GeorgAnna May and was immediately committed to a life with her. In 1953, he and GeorgAnna were married in the Logan Utah LDS temple.
At a young age, Dee set his life's goal on becoming a physician. He attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, receiving his Bachelor's Degree and then the University of Oregon Medical School in Portland, graduating in 1956. He served his medical internship as an Officer at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego, being released with honors in 1960.
The young family, with 3 children, relocated back to Baker, Oregon, where Dee owned a family medical practice for 7 years. During this time 4 more children joined the family. In 1967, he returned to school at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, to specialize in Obstetrics. Two years later Dee joined an OB-GYN practice in Fresno, California. Along with delivering thousands of babies, Dee specialized in infertility and micro-surgery. Attending conferences to learn this innovative expertise gave him the opportunity to travel to many locations throughout the world.
In 1981, Dee took his family back to his roots in Oregon, opening an OB-GYN practice in LaGrande on a part time basis while developing his interests in gardening, bee-keeping, and harvesting many varieties of pears and apples.
Dee was very involved in The Boy Scouts of America and received many recognitions including Wood Badge. Other interests included motorcycles, marksmanship, back-packing, genealogy, and the early world of computers. Friends speak of him as a kind and gentle man who looks on everyone as his equal. Dee and GeorgAnna served a two-year LDS mission at the Washington DC temple from 1992-1994. Wherever he was, he was an example of continual service in his church, community, and family.
Dee and GeorgAnna relocated to Ucon, in 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, GeorgAnna; their children: Mark (Jackie) Fuller, Linn (Keiko) Fuller, Karen Hill, David Fuller, Elaine Rudd, Ruth (Daniel) Aldridge, and Brian (Bobbie) Fuller; his siblings: Larry (Linda) Fuller, and Sonja Givens. His posterity includes 28 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Nettie Lee (Whittenburg) Fuller; father-in-law, Stephen Glen May; mother-in-law, Edna (Haslam) May; brother, Gary Fuller; sister, Zoe Ann (Fuller) Spriet; brother-in-law, Harley Spriet and son-in law, Bradley Hill.
