Obituary

Delmar (Cannonball) Glen Griffith of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on November 1, 2025. He was born April 22, 1931, in Truman, Arkansas, to Perry and Grace Griffith.  He was 94 years old.

He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, spending most of his time in Okinawa. Returning home from the service, he lived in Arkansas for approximately six months. Then, with his brother and a friend, he came to Idaho, where he lived the rest of his life, always claiming that Idaho was "God's Country". Even on vacation, he always said he wouldn't leave without a round-trip ticket.

For 21 years, he was employed by his good friends Ben (Happy) Brothers and his son, Ben Jr.  In 1980, he left their employment and, with his wife Irene, started Cedric's Restaurant, a longtime business in Idaho Falls, which they owned and operated for 14 years. He was a hard worker and preferred work over retirement, but soon learned to enjoy fishing and golf.

He married his best friend and the love of his life, Irene Clark, on June 18, 1965. They shared a blended family of six children. Cannonball was a wonderful father and role model.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene; his daughter, Linda (Robert) Reed of Imperial, California; his son, Ricky (Mary) Griffith of Moore; as well as his stepson, Leon (Anita) Bruch of Meridian; stepdaughters: Linda (Norman) Hanson of Silver City, New Mexico, Bonnie (Stanley) Henson of Doe Run, Missouri, and Vanita (Darrell) Johnson of Eagle; his sister Helen Norris of Harrisburg, Arkansas; and 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one precious great-grandson.

At his request, no public service is planned. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
