Delva Mae Hester, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 23, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with family at her side. She was born October 23, 1925, in Pueblo, Colorado where she grew up before moving to Los Angeles. Delva worked 25 years for Los Angeles County in Social Services and retired in 1989. In 1990 she moved to Idaho Falls where she lived the remainder of her full and rich life. Family and friends is what Delva's life was all about. She took pride in her single-handed raising of four children who she was proud of and they even more so of her. Delva always thought of everyone else first. She was the most selfless and giving person one could ever know. She always remembered everyone's birthday - family members as well as young people in her expanded family. She was always thinking of others. During her last days at the hospital when the nurses asked how she was doing she answered and then quickly added "And how are you feeling today?" Delva lived a simple and highly productive life. After successfully raising four children, she readily accepted the challenge of raising her grandson Mark. She loved to watch TV shows and do crossword puzzles. Her TV show favorites included the Cash Cab, Wheel of Fortune, and Survivor. Delva is survived by three children Ollie of Seattle, Candy of Los Angeles, and Oren (Shauna) of Idaho Falls, nine grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Mark. Memorial services will be 1p.m. Wednesday, December 29th , at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Subsequently, a reception will be held at the Sandpiper 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
