Dennis Eugene Wilkie, 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from complications after a fall.
On October 12, 1934, Dennis was born in Idaho Falls. Dennis was raised in Idaho Falls by his Stepdad, John Holverson, and his mother Bertha.
He attended Idaho Falls High School and Clark Business College. Dennis served four years in the United States Air Force.
Dennis married Carolyn Luke on September 6, 1953, in Elko, Nevada. Together they lived in Idaho Falls, Oklahoma City, and Japan. Together they raised three boys and two girls.
He worked for Challenge Dairy for 35 years. After retiring, Dennis enjoyed working seasonal jobs for the City of Idaho Falls Parks Department.
Dennis loved to work in his yard (which was his pride and joy), traveling and doing woodwork. He loved to spend time with his family. For the last 6 ½ years, Dennis was caregiver to his wife, Carolyn.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wilkie, of Idaho Falls; his children: Craig Wilkie, Kim (Stephen) McGavin, Kevin (Debbie) Wilkie, Kirk (Joy) Wilkie, all of Idaho Falls, and Debra Kelly, of Denver, Colorado; his brother, Darrell (Marilyn) Holverson, of Pocatello, Idaho; his sister, Bonnie Holverson-Young, of Kelso, Washington; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Holverson, stepfather, John Holverson; his brothers: Larry Holverson and John Holverson; his granddaughters: Ashley Wilkie and Britni Jo Kelly; and his parents-in-law, Vaughn and Fawntella Luke.
Funeral services will be held at 12 (noon), Wednesday, December, 2, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Paul Coltrin officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00-11:45 a.m., prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
