Derek Lynn Seward, 42, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in Victor, Idaho. He was born January 23, 1973, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Timothy Lynn Seward and Jewel Gardner Seward. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1991. He attended Ricks College. He lived in Idaho Falls, Mackey and Victor. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He earned his Eagle Scout award and served a mission in Denmark from 1992-1993. He also served as a ward historian and an Elders Quorum Instructor. He worked as a paper boy from 1983-1989, as a bagger at Smiths in Idaho Falls, with the NAMI Support Group, and as a bagger at Broulims in Driggs. Derek enjoyed roller blading, music, and skateboarding. His favorite football team was the San Francisco 49ers. Derek came home halfway through his mission from anxiety and depression, and was later diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder. He suffered from 1993-2015. He is now free and at peace. He is survived by the following: Parents, Timothy and Jewel Seward of Idaho Falls Sister, Kathy (Paul) Schell of Idaho Falls Brother, Shawn (Raquel) Seward of Salt Lake City Sister, Debra (Destrey) Hill of Ammon Sister, Jenae (Bill) Clegg of Idaho Falls Sister, Tricia (Brad) Bame of Chubbuck 7 nephews and 4 nieces. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the Home Ranch LDS Ward, 2051 So. Emerson Ave., Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2015, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Ammon Cemetery.
