Obituary

Dewaine H. Stoddard, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on November 16, 2005 at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation from complications of Parkinsons disease. Dewaine was born on December 19, 1924 in Shelley, Idaho. He was the oldest of 16 children born to Ireta Winward and Wilford Stoddard.

During the ravages of World War II, Dewaine enlisted in the United States Army interrupting his senior year at Shelley High School. He was awarded his high school diploma upon his return from war. He served in the 16th Armored Division in Europe during World War II. Dewaine was honored to have been a part of the honor guard at General Patton's military last rites in Luxemburg. After his military service, he farmed in the Shelley area where he met and married Marian Riddle. They were the parents of 4 children. The couple moved to Washington where he continued to farm. After divorcing, Dewaine returned to Shelley and began a career as a long haul truck driver. Dewaine married Pearl A. Neddo on May 18, 1972 in Idaho Falls. While employed by C H Dredge, Dewaine received Driver of the Year recognition as well as many Safe Driver Awards from the State of Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Dewaine is survived by his wife, Pearl A. Stoddard, son, Gary Stoddard of Yakima, WA; daughter, Debbie Mendosa of Sunnyside, WA; stepsons, Dennis (Linda) Neddo and Rodger Neddo of Idaho Falls; Lewis D. (Margaret) Neddo of Las Vegas, NV; stepdaughters, Darla (Les) Barlow and Mary Lynn (Ralph) Hartwell of Idaho Falls; Linda (Dave) Klatt of Pocatello, ID; Elaine (Danny) Gray of Lolo, MT; and Joan (Stephen) Poulsen of Layton, Utah; brothers, Fred (Sandra) Stoddard of Idaho Falls, Merlin (Jeannie) Stoddard, Denny (LaRue) Stoddard, Martin (Linda) Stoddard of Shelley, ID; sisters Violet Cox of Darby, MT; Delpha (Don) Beck, Blackfoot, ID; Darlene (Dale) Quinn of Sandy, OR; Connie (Larry) Bumgardner, Neta Neilson of Shelley, ID; and Midge Stoddard of Pocatello, ID; 30 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Preceding Dewaine in death were his mother, father, daughter, Diane Belton, brothers Jay, Charles Amos, and Floyd; sisters; Florence Johansen, and Lorene Hutchins.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, November 21, 2005, at the Lincoln 2nd Ward, 3700 E Lincoln Road, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Kent Gauchay officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Sunday at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls and for one hour Monday before services at the church. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans' Team.
