Obituary

Diana Louise Simon-Lee, 69, let go of her family here on Earth and took Jesus' hand and her loved ones who went to heaven ahead of her on Jan. 7, 2017, after a long and valiant battle with metastatic melanoma. She was at home and surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Diana was born in Idaho Falls on Feb. 17, 1947, to Ruben and Marjorie Mead-Simon. She grew up in Iona with brothers, Russell and Mike, and sisters, Linda, Sharon, Mary Ann, and later her younger sister, Ann (the good doctor). She attended and graduated from Bonneville High School and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital as a nurses' aide.

In 1971, she married Joseph Burrill and had three children, Marjorie "Dawn," Sherri Joe and Jeremy Joseph Burrill. They lived throughout the United States, moving as Joe was reassigned duties as a Navy officer.

Joe preceded her in death in October of 1986. In 1988, she attended Drake State Technical College in Alabama and earned her LPN nursing degree, moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and in 1993, met and married Richard "Rick" Lee.

Diana loved nursing and taking care of patients, her kids and her husband. In 2004, she gave up nursing and moved to El Centro, California, where her husband began his service with the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service. While she loved the area, her church and the positive growth in faith they both experienced there, she longed to be back in Idaho.

In 2010, Rick was promoted to an assignment in Idaho Falls. Shortly thereafter, she began reassembling her kids closer to her. Her son, Jeremy, moved to Idaho Falls with his family, then her daughter, Dawn, moved to Idaho Falls from Texas. Sherri Joe remained just a few hours away in Filer, Idaho. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren after her retirement at age 62. It was a blessing to see her light up when the grandkids showed up. She would fuss over those kids, and no spankings were allowed at grandma's house. Watching them grow up was pure joy for her and still was right up to the day she left us.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Burrill, and her parents, Ruben and Marjorie. She is survived by her husband, Rick; brothers and sisters, Russ, Mike, Linda, Sharon, Marry Ann and Ann; children, Dawn, Sherri and Jeremy; two stepdaughters, Tina and Sheila; and 18 grandchildren.

It is said that wealth should be counted by the people we are surrounded by. That being the case, Diana was vastly wealthy, and we are all vastly wealthy because of her. It will be her sense of humor, laughter and her pretty smile we will miss the most.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church located on East Seventh Street in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

The family would like to thank: Advanced Home Health, Teton Hospice, 24/7 Home Care and EICAP for their loving care and support, and request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any one of the above facilities as you feel compelled.
