IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane W.
Ball
March 23, 1950 – August 6, 2023
Diane W. Ball completed her mortal life on August 6, 2023, while resting in her home, in Idaho Falls, ID.
Diane was born March 23, 1950, to Vern and Zula Walton in Casa Grande, Arizona. She was the middle child, No. 4 of seven children.
She enjoyed a fun and active life in her youth, taking a special interest in music. As she matured, she would become a very accomplished piano and organ player participating in many recitals and musical productions. Her favorite was Handel's "Messiah". She also excelled in her schooling, graduating with high honors from high school, and awarded a full academic scholarship to BYU, in Provo, Utah where she completed her bachelor's degree in music theory.
While at college she met her husband, John T. Ball, and was married, on December 17, 1971, in the Mesa LDS Temple in Mesa, Arizona. From this marriage came 10 children, and 30 grandchildren. Diane was a loving mother and faithful companion to her husband.
She served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life and will be remembered by many for her compassionate service. Especially noteworthy is the care she provided to her son, Byron, who sustained a head injury resulting in severe disabilities as a child. She lovingly looked after his needs for 35 years before she was no longer able.
Other interests and hobbies Diane enjoyed included sewing, quilting, gardening, composing music, and family gatherings. Dearest Diane, may you rest in peace and rejoice in the reunion you will have with your parents, grandparents, and siblings, (Bud and Gary) and your oldest son, Nathan. From all of us who remain behind, we declare our unconditional love for you and are so grateful you have been a part of our lives.
Diane is survived by her husband, John Ball, of Idaho Falls; son, Byron Ball; daughters: Elisa Clark (Jonathan), Cynthia Weekes (Brandon), Bethany Walters (Cody); sons: Ray Ball (Clarissa), David Ball (Natalie); daughter, Leah Ball; sons: Phillip Ball (Anna) and Gabe Ball; and 30 grandchildren.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents: Vern and Zula Walton; brothers: Bud Walton and Gary Walton; and a son, Nathan Ball.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 1040 N. Crimson Dr. in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
