Don D. Deming, 91, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice.
Don was born on November 2, 1926, to Meryl William and Lena Howe Deming in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in Reno, Nevada and graduated from Reno High School in 1944. He received his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from University of Nevada. He invented a process of removing radioactive waste (Cal-Sci).
He served two years in the U.S. Navy.
On July 2, 1945 he married his sweetheart, Barbara Jean Irish in Reno, Nevada.
After the Navy, Don took a job at GE Handford which turned into the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1962, he was transferred to INL (at that time it was known as AEC) where he worked until he retired in 1986.
Don was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Falls man Barber Shoppers, toastmaster, and wagon master for the Good Sam RV Club. He enjoyed traveling the United States after retirement, for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman.
Don was a happy positive person, always looked for the good in people. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, July 20, 2018, at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 1730 St. Clair Road, with Pastor Nancy Amos officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at Ammon Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
