Donald William Shipley, 56, of Idaho Falls and formerly of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, died April 2, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of cancer.
He was born August 26, 1950, in Pasco, Washington, to Donald Shipley and Margaret "Peggy" Grimes Shipley. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Springs, Colorado. In 1968, he graduated from Clear Creek High School.
He was married and later divorced.
He was a chef most of his life. He lived and worked in Washington State and many areas of Colorado including Brooks Steakhouse in Denver and Buffolo Valley Inn in Glenwood Springs.
He was affiliated with Christ Community Church.
He loved riding his Harley Davidson, listening to great music, fishing, outdoor activities, and bringing people together with cooking. For his passion and love of food and family, he was able to bring everyone together.
He is survived by the following: son, David Shipley of Idaho Falls; son, Jimmy Joe (Shelly) Shipley of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Jennifer (Josh) Cardona of Idaho Falls; son, Michael Shipley; 11 grandchildren; companion, Penni Englert of Idaho Falls; mother, Margaret Whitmire of Denver, Colorado; sister, Nancy (Gary) Walden of Denver, Colorado; brother, Bill (Michelle) Whitmire of Sandy, Utah; brother, Dan (Chris) Whitmire of Midvale, Utah; and a sister, Debbie (Tom) McRee of Holiday, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Shipley.
Memorial services and a Celebration of his Life will be from 3-8:00 p.m. May 27, 2007, at the Collage Restaurant, 150 E. 1st St., Idaho Falls. Arrangements have been under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. Idaho.
