Obituary

Donald R. Deddens, 80, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on January 26, 1928 in Racine, Wisconsin to Harry John and Veronica Aremeline Reivette Deddens. He grew up and attended schools in Racine and graduated from Racine High School in 1945. After High School he joined the US Navy, and retired from the US Army in 1965.

On June 9, 1951 he married Theo Frances Smith at Fort Myer, Virginia. He also lived and served in the military in Fort Eustus, VA; Fort Belvoir, VA; Idaho Falls, ID; San Diego, CA; and Korea.

He was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, where he was an elder, and a member of the choir.

He loved fishing, leatherwork, reading, camping, and loved to watch western movies.

He was a quiet reserved man with a generous heart.

He is survived by his 3 daughters; Donna Weinrich of Idaho Falls, Dianne Miller (Glenn) of Cairo, GA, and Dorothy Rogers (Neal) of Bonney Lake, WA; and a son, Robert Deddens (Anita) of Great Falls, MT; 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Theo Francis Smith Deddens, his parents Harry and Vera Deddens, and his sister Beverley Delores Lindquist.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2071 12th street, Idaho Falls. Military Rites will be provided by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Donald's name to the Hope Lutheran Church and School.
