October 16, 1934 – June 16, 2006
He was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Shelley, Idaho, the son of Samuel Ray and Jennie LaMar Thompson Larsen. He grew up and attended school in Shelley. He later served in the U.S. Navy. During his lifetime, he lived in Idaho Falls and worked for the U.S. Post Office.
On June 28, 1956, he married Marla Jean Gates in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She passed away March 17, 1998. He married Maureen Morrow Feb. 16, 2002, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served an 18-month mission to Jamaica from August 2003-February 2005, and an 18-month mission at the LDS Cannery in Idaho Falls. He served in the bishopric and also served for 40 years in scouting which included 25 years with Cedar Badge, Wood Badge, and the Order of the Arrow. He received the Silver Beaver award, and the Scouting Hall of Fame award.
He enjoyed woodworking, hiking, and his family. He was a kind, honorable, gentleman, who always lived the Scout Law, and who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include:his wife, Maureen Larsen, of Idaho Falls, daughters Paula (George) Siegel, of Idaho Falls, Tracy Larsen, of Idaho Falls, and Kimberly (Blaine) Ward, of Idaho Falls; 3 sisters, Joyce (Ted) White, of Jefferson, Oregon, Rayola Eiman, of Cortez, Colorado, and Maxine Rosenkrance, of Idaho Falls; 3 step-sons, Robert (Lisa) Morrow, of Richland, WA, Paul (Resa), Morrow, of Moses Lake, WA, and Kent (Hillary) Morrow, Farmington, NM; and 2 step-daughters, Leslie (Glen) Betty, of Pocatello, and, Jan (Tyson) Clemons, Mesa, AR and 19 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, and a sister, Eileen Larsen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the LDS Church on 2349 Virlow, by Bishop Kerry Cooper. The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and also an hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at the Ammon Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the Bonneville County Veteran's Team.
