Obituary

Donald Jacob "Butch" Ramey, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at his home. He was under the care of Eden Home Health and Hospice.

Donald was born on October 2, 1942, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Donald Charles "Pat" Ramey and Edith Georgetta "Mickey" Ramey. Donald was born during World War II. He grew up in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1961. He continued his education at Eastern Idaho Technical College, where he earned his associate's degree in marketing management.

On June 10, 1966, he married his sweetheart, Karen Lee Forsgren. During his life, he lived in Blackfoot, St. Anthony, Rexburg, and the last 55 years in Idaho Falls, 46 of those were in the Lincoln area. He worked for Roger Brothers, U & I Sugar Factory, Riverview Hospital, Parkview Hospital, and various fast-food restaurants.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving in many callings, including as a Boy Scout leader, as a stake missionary, and as the Falls Brook Mission Leader. He was a great missionary and dedicated to his church work. He was a member of the Jaycees. Donald enjoyed reading, listening to music of various genres, and watching movies. He was an avid fan of James Bond and Star Wars.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Karen Lee Ramey of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Christopher Jacob (Robin) Ramey of Orlando, Florida; son, Neil Thomas (Christy) Ramey of Meridian, Idaho; daughter, KaraDawn (Kelly) Buttars of Ririe, Idaho; granddaughter, Kierra (Cory) Coronado of Midvale, Utah; granddaughter, Amy Ramey of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Jessica Ramey of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandson, Andrew Ramey of Davis Monhan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona; grandson, Tyler Ramey of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Karly Buttars of Ririe, Idaho; granddaughter, Laci Ramey of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Sydney Buttars of Ririe, Idaho; granddaughter, Sophie Ramey of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Mandy Buttars of Lewisville, Idaho; granddaughter, Katie Buttars of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Lincoln 2nd Ward Chapel, 3700 E. Lincoln Road, with Bishop Wayne Billman officiating. The family will visit friends and family from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
