Obituary

Donna Joy (Bruce) Sibbett, age 78, surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father after a long and valiant fight on February 5, 2011. Born March 11, 1932 in Smoot, Wyoming to James and Mable Bruce she was the 14th child and youngest in her family. She attended Star Valley High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she attended business school. On June 13, 1952, she married the love of her life, Duane Glenn Sibbett in the Idaho Falls Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. They were loving, devoted companions for more than 58 years. Donna worked for the telephone company for many years as a telephone operator; she medically retired. Though retired, she stayed active and busy. She and Duane opened a ceramic shop, Double "D" Ceramics. Donna loved to paint, instruct and share her talent with those around her. Donna and Duane raised 5 children, Hal, Kim, Jan, Shalee and Trinett. She loved her children dearly and devoted her life to them. Her family was most important to her and she taught her children to think of others, to be kind, and to love each other the way she loved them. Donna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as primary president, young women's president, ward librarian, primary chorister as well as various teaching positions. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and instilled her children the same values she held so dear. Donna loved spending her winters in St. George, Utah. She had an opportunity to serve a mission with Duane while there and loved the work that she was able to do. Donna will be especially remembered for devoted service to her family and friends. She spent many summer's coaching her daughters' and granddaughter's softball teams. Donna loved her family dearly and never missed an opportunity to attend any event in which they were involved. Donna taught her family the meaning of service through her devotion to those around her. Those who knew Donna could see that being a mother seemed to be a role that was tailor made just for her as she viewed being a mother as her greatest mission in life. Though she found much fulfillment in being a mother, becoming a grandmother was truly her greatest reward. Someone who believed in the value of hard work, Donna wholeheartedly embraced every task that was before her. Although her life was not without hardship, Donna took both the joys and the sorrows that came her way, carrying herself with grace, humility, and compassion for those around her. The shining legacy she leaves behind is one that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be proud to carry on. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, Duane G. Sibbett, her children, Hal (Janet), Kim (Jill), Jan (Annette), Shalee Claiborne (David), and Trinett Johnson (Dale), 24 grand children and 16 great-grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her loving sister's, Verna Bruce and Ruth Corsi, her caring brother's, Dean and Jim Bruce as well as 9 other siblings. What a joyous reunion they must have had to be together again. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Idaho Falls Central Stake Center at 2025 Jennie Lee Drive in Idaho Falls, ID.
