Donna Mabel Briggs Cheney, 82, of Idaho Falls died December 14, 2009, at Mt. Vernon Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. She had been under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice. She was born January 4, 1927, in Perry, Idaho, to James C. Briggs and Mable Jane Young Briggs. She grew up in the Sunnydell-Archer area and graduated from Madison High School in 1945. On August 9, 1946, Donna married Gerald Blackburn Cheney in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away Nov. 18, 2005. They lived in Pocatello for a short time before moving to Ammon in 1954. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. She enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, crocheting, genealogy and being around babies. Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she especially loved her little dog, Sophie. She is survived by the following children: son; Blair Cheney of Boise; daughters: Marlene (Steven) Seedall of Salt Lake City and Linda (Sean) Neddo of Idaho Falls; 6 grandchildren: Angie, Suzanne, Katie, Mark, Nick, and Ryan; and 2 great-grandchildren: Erin and Zach. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Ann Cheney; and 2 sisters: Maxine Weatherston and Dorothy Page. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at the Ammon LDS First Ward Chapel, 3000 Central with Bishop Ryan Kohler officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, December 18, 2009 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Vernon and Aspen Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Donna.
