Donna Mae Barnes Thompson, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at her home. She was under the care of Hearts for Hospice. She was born June 23, 1937, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Edmund Franklin Barnes and Elena Bloxham Barnes. Donna grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and attended BYU for 1 year. On July 26, 1957, she married Clyde Delon Thompson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Donna lived in Killeen and El Paso, Texas, and for a few years in Clarkston, Utah, before returning back to Idaho Falls. She worked for 23 years as a secretary at AH Bush Elementary School. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the Primary, Young Women's organization and in the Relief Society. Donna and Clyde served an eighteen month mission to the Australia Melbourne Mission. She also served as a matron in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family and especially time the family spent at their cabin in Island Park. She also enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a loving compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Donna is survived by the following: Husband, Clyde Thompson of Idaho Falls;Daughters: Julie (Ken) Hayes of Taylorsville, Utah, and Joy (Wyldn) Pearson of West Jordan, Utah; Sons: Travis (Lisa) Thompson of Logan, Utah; Greg (Lynette) Thompson of Rigby, Idaho; and Russell (Tanna) Thompson of Grand Junction, Colorado;Brothers: Doug (Ginny) Barnes and Bruce (Lillian) Barnes both of Idaho Falls;16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 10th Ward Chapel, 1200 Dunbar with Bishop Jack C. Klein officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, August 30, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services.
