Obituary

Doris Elaine Marks Barnes, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 9, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Ammon. She was born on February 6, 1920, in Bedford, Wyoming. Doris was the sixth child of 13 children born to George Wiley Marks and Emma Delilah Merritt Marks. She grew up in Bedford and Rigby, Idaho. She left school during her junior year to work. On July 28, 1938, she married the love of her life, James Reed Barnes, in the Logan LDS Temple. After sixty-seven years of marriage, Reed passed away December 27, 2005. Doris' greatest joy was her family and her friends. She was an entrepreneur-teaching craft classes, sewing doll clothes, making jewelry and participating in craft shows. She loved dancing with Reed during the fifteen years they spent in Mesa, Arizona, during the winter. She enjoyed traveling the country seeing new places and meeting new people. Doris lived with what she had, laughed much, gave everything, and loved with all her heart. We will all greatly miss her! Doris is survived by the following: daughters: Myrna (Richard) Pickett of Ammon and Lynne (Mark) Williamson of Lewisville, Idaho; son: Gary (Virginia, deceased) Barnes of Idaho Falls; sisters: Maxine (Larry, deceased) Yeats of Richland, Washington; Marcile (Brent) Bonham of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Connie (Gerald) Montague of South Lake, Texas; 19 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Darius Barnes; daughter-in-law, Virginia; three brothers: Blaine, Elden and George; six sisters: Marjory Draney, Jean Potter, Ruth Marks, Gwen Marks, Betty Russell and Emma Marks; and 2 great-grandsons: Bo Halford and Jake Klukis. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., in Idaho Falls with Mark Williamson officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com
