Obituary

Doris Beatriz Escobar Owens Jenkins, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 17, 2016, at her home of cancer. Aspen Home Health and Hospice assisted her family in her care.

She was born January 29, 1962, in San Juan Ostuncalco, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala as the oldest child born to Baldomero Escobar and Aura Gramajo. She grew up in the small town in Guatemala until she emmigrated to New York with her family when she was 12 years old.  In high school she attended Our Lady of Victory Academy followed by her attending Ricks College.

On August 7, 1982, she married Paul D. Owens in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Paul passed away July 13, 1993. On June 21, 1997, she married Findlay Jenkins.

She and Paul lived in Provo, Utah while he finished his studies at BYU. They moved to Idaho Falls where they raised their four children. Everywhere that Doris lived she had a special talent for making friends that became more like family to her.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in leadership positions but especially enjoyed her callings working with the children.  Her love and devotion to Christ was evident in her constant service to others and her selfless compassion for those in need. She loved serving in the temple.

Doris was a very patriotic and devoted citizen of the United States who participated actively in her community. She had strong views and enjoyed debate and discussion.

Doris's greatest joy was her family. She devoted her time, her love and her life to her children and grandchildren who always felt her love, laughter and support in their lives.
