Obituary

Doris Lucile Anderson Byron Warner, 86, of Ammon, Idaho, died Friday, February 25, 2011, in Idaho Falls Health. She was born September 24, 1924, in Ashton, Idaho, to Carl Willard Anderson and Harriet Rowberry Anderson. Doris grew up and attended schools in Ashton. She lived with her sister, June, in Rexburg her senior year and graduated from Madison High School. Doris attended nursing school at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls where she served in the Cadet Nursing Corp. and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1945. She worked in a military hospital in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where she met Louis "Lew" Byron. They were married October 10, 1945. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 28, 1982. They raised 6 children while Lew served in the Navy and Doris continued to work as a nurse. The military took them to Idaho, California, West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, and Montana. When Lew retired in 1960, they moved to Montana's Bitterroot Valley where they settled on a ranch in Corvallis. Doris worked as a nurse at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, until she retired in 1983. In 1995, they moved to Idaho Falls where Lew passed away in 1998. Doris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including Stake and Ward Relief Society President and Primary President. She had a great love for family history and temple work and devoted many hours to this endeavor. She married Chester "Chet" Warner June 8, 2001 and they served missions together at the Idaho Falls Family History and Humanitarian Centers. Doris enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who spent her life teaching and loving her family. She will be greatly missed but will live forever in our hearts. She is survived by the following: husband, Chester "Chet" Warner of Ammon, ID; children: Edward of Flint, MI; Daniel (Pauline) of Ammon; Scott of Kearns, UT; Joel (Alyce) of Corvallis, MT; Kaycee (Ruth) of Bozeman, MT; Laura Lee (John) Zito of Greybull, WY; 34 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Ralph "Jim" Anderson of Fremont, CA; step-children: Terri (Robert) Underberg of Middleton, ID; Wendy Jones of Ammon, ID; and Scott (Corey) Warner of Idaho Falls. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis; grandsons: John E. Byron and Aaron Byron; and sisters, Cleo Despain and June Warner. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at the Ammon 23rd Ward Chapel, 4030 John Adams Parkway with Bishop Todd Summers officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church Friday one hour prior to the services. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Corvallis Cemetery in Corvallis, Montana.
