Dorothy Ann
Barker
October 1, 1940 – November 27, 2017
Dorothy Ann Barker, 77, passed away at home on Monday, November 27, 2017, with family around her.
She was born October 1, 1940, to Charles Wesley and Emma Ann Sparr in Idaho Falls, Idaho. This is where she grew up, graduated from Idaho Falls High School and attended Beauty college.
The Tetons called her away from the farmlands and soon she was living in Jackson, doing hair, she loved her career and still has a current cosmetologist license.
In August of 1961, her daughter Kay Lea was born. Kay Lea was a joy of her life and certainly kept her busy. She met Ray Barker and married him on February 21, 1970; he was a "telephone man". Dorothy had many experiences, she was on a bowling team at the Elks Lodge, an officer in the B.P.O. Does #49, a member of the Jackson Hole Soroptimist club, there were many Falls spent at hunting camp, she loved to camp, boat and cook sourdough pancakes a specialty! She enjoyed life...
They moved to Idaho Falls in the early 1990's, easier winters and closer to her brothers and sisters. Her and Ray started spending winter months in Yuma and then Mesquite...and she did hair. ZCMI was a great outlet for her outgoing personality, she loved selling jewelry then when it became Dillard's it was in fragrance and cosmetics where she always looked her best.
Her love for the church has strengthened her spirit, she was a primary teacher, a volunteer at the LDS Temple, a member of DUP, a very active visiting teacher, she genuinely loved people and was always looking for people she could help.
She is survived by her husband, Ray L. Barker, daughters: Kay Lea (Ron) Weber, Joyce Barker and Valetta (Adam) West; her brothers: Ray Hogan and George Sparr; sisters: Kay (Gerald) Bregg Sr., Eva McGary; there are 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother in laws: Don (Susan) Barker, Clifford (Nancy) Barker; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Buster Hogan, Dennis Hogan; her sisters: Sharon Corsini, Bernice Belnap and Yvonne Sparr.
