Dorothy Elaine 'Dottie' Hensley, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, at her home. She was under the care of Encompass Home Health and Hospice.
Dottie was born on January 6, 1944, to Faye Ross and Lawrence E. Hensley in Portland, Oregon. She grew up in Spencer, Idaho. She attended school in Clark County.
In July 1975, she joined the United States Army. She was honorably discharged.
On February 24, 1962, she married Clyde Leon Stone in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they had four children: Becky, David, Richard, and Troy. They were later divorced.
She worked in several states such as: Idaho, California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Montana and Arizona. Dottie worked hard and wherever she was needed. Some of her jobs included: waiting tables, working in the potato warehouses, and she drove 18-wheelers until May 2018.
Dottie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She enjoyed crocheting and was the happiest when she was driving truck or with her two dogs: Snochezer and Chawawa. Her friends and family always joked with her that she had diesel in her veins.
She is survived by her children: Becky Stone Mitchell of Rigby, Idaho, David Stone of Beaumont, Texas, Richard Stone of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Troy Stone of Dubois, Idaho; her sisters: Mary (Morris) Hensley Ravelli of Marysville, Washington, Linda (Frank) Hensley Savidge of Burien, Washington, Marilyne Hensley Epstein of Kansas City, Kansas, Judy Hensley Vineyard of Jerome, Idaho, Karen Hensley Aranda of Denver, Colorado and Patty Hensley Holsomback of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Faye and Lawrence Hensley; her sister, Sandra Hensley Anderson; and her grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 602 Sundance, Rigby. The family will visit with friends for half an hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
