Obituary

Dorothy Louise Walker, 93, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away September 12, 2008, at the Riverview Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Dorothy was born January 29, 1915, in Carlisle, Iowa, to Harry and Ida Mae Travis Wise. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Martensdale, Iowa High School in 1933.

She came west and met her sweetheart and future husband, Cecil P. Walker, at the Wandamere Dance Hall in Idaho Falls. They were married September 23, 1939, in Pocatello, Idaho. Cecil died May 26, 1998.

Following their marriage, they lived in Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and Ucon where they owned and operated a small café.

Dorothy worked at White Star Laundry and as a legal secretary for an Idaho Falls attorney.

She was an excellent seamstress and made many quilts and crocheted doilies and afghans. Dorothy and Cecil enjoyed camping and fishing. Together they cared for their lovely yard and raised a beautiful garden, sharing their produce with friends and neighbors.

Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Adelaid Beck and Margaret Melody, both of Indianola, Iowa, a sister-in-law, Verna Kissner, of Pocatello and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Merrill James Wise (her twin), Gerald Wise, Morris Wise, and one sister, Ruth Kuhns.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to those who so tenderly cared for Dorothy at the Riverview Assisted Living Center and to Hospice of Eastern idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street in Idaho Falls with Dale A. Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
