Obituary

Edith Alice Taylor Ruthardt, 90, of Idaho Falls, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice and Personal Care Services from Visiting Angels of Idaho Falls.

Edith was born on October 28, 1926, to James Blaine and Alice Taylor, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in the Chicago and Westmont area. She graduated from Downer's Grove High School in 1944.

Edith grew up during the Great Depression which greatly affected her family. The loss of the family home forced the move to Westmont, Illinois. This may account for our natural caution when shopping and spending in general.

On April 26, 1947, she married Edward E. Ruthardt in Downer's Grove, Illinois. Together they raised two children.

They attended Calvary Baptist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

She worked at various jobs throughout her life, including as a medical secretary and starting a pre-school at Cherry Hills Baptist Church in Springfield, Illinois.

Edith took great pride in collecting early American furniture. She enjoyed her daily bible reading and study. She kept in touch with many longtime friends, especially through handwritten letters.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Ruthardt, of Idaho Falls, ID; her daughter, Chris (Earl) Siems, of Palm Springs, CA; her son David (Valerie) Ruthardt, of Star Valley, WY; 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Matt McGukin officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
