IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edna R.
Gerard
August 30, 1929 – September 26, 2025
Edna Reece Gerard, 96, of Iona, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at her home. She was under the care of her daughter, Sally, and Mission Hospice.
Edna was born on August 30, 1929, to Sammie Reece and Clara Mae (Adams) Reece. She was the third Daughter of four girls. She grew up in humble beginnings on the family farm near Ashton, Idaho, where she learned the values of faith, hard work, and perseverance. She cherished her close-knit family life, despite the hardships of farm living without modern conveniences. They moved to Drummond, Idaho, and then to Rigby, Idaho.
After graduating from Rigby High School in 1947, she worked at the Reed Drug Store for two years, and there she met her Sweetheart (Our Dad), Kenneth D. Gerard (deceased). They were married April 27, 1949, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They raised their children together on faith and Family Values. They were blessed with six children: Craig, Peggy, Steven, Sally, Kendi, and Jack. They moved to Iona in October 1961.
She loved fishing and camping with her family at Birch Creek and Macks Inn. She loved to make quilts, crochet, and dresses for dances. She was one of the best school lunch ladies and spent 52 years doing that in the Food Service Program for Bonneville District #93. She was the oldest cook there, and she loved to be with her co-workers. She especially loved the young kids that called her grandma.
She lived a life of service both within her family and her faith. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she devoted herself to many callings and treasured the lasting friendship that came through her service and many church positions.
Edna is survived by her sons: Craig (Jana) Gerard, Steven (Linda) Gerard, and Jack (Melinda) Gerard; her daughter, Sally (David) Louk; her son-in-law, Merrill Fullmer; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her parents, her siblings, and her daughters: Peggy (Bill) Briggs and Kendi Fullmer.
We all loved her dearly, and she will be greatly missed. Especially all the Fun times and memories made with her. Love you more, Mom, until we meet again.
