Edwin Frank 'Ed' Poulter, 93, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at his home.

Ed was born on July 13, 1924, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Orla Frank and Ruth Nunn Poulter. He grew up in the Idaho Falls and Burley area and served in the United States Army.

On January 4, 1945, he married Marjorie Long in Idaho Falls. Marjorie passed away in April 2014. Together they had six children, 5 boys and 1 girl.

After growing up in the Burley and Idaho Falls areas he settled in the Idaho Falls area. In the late 1950's Ed and Marjorie purchased a farm near Menan to raise the family in a more rural environment, returning to Idaho Falls after their children had grown.

His working life was spent in public service. He began work with the Idaho Falls Fire Department and then moved to the Idaho Falls Police Department, where he worked for six years attaining the rank of desk sergeant. He then began work at the INL, initially working for security and later with the fire department until his retirement, achieving the rank of captain.

After his retirement his time was spent in traveling, mostly to visit family and friends. He had many interests including: golf, fishing and baseball. He earned his private pilots license. He built and flew his own ultralight aircraft.

He is survived by his children: Jim Poulter of Moore, Idaho; Brent (Jenni) Poulter of Plano, Idaho; Craig Poulter of Cottonwood, Arizona; Cindy (Tom) Jicha of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Jon Poulter of Las Vegas, Nevada; 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Poulter; his parents; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and 1 son, Brad Poulter.
