IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edwin Eugene
Joslin
June 14, 1956 – April 16, 2024
Edwin Eugene Joslin, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Cynthia Joslin; children: Matthew Joslin, Ashley Joslin, and Jesse Joslin (Hatch); grandchildren: Ashton, Kaydyn, MJ, and Karter; siblings: Valda Carrillo and Lorin Joslin. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Eugene Joslin Joslin; his mother, N. Jean Joslin; and his brother, Ronald Lynn Joslin.
Ed was born on June 14, 1956, in American Falls, ID to Richard Joslin and N. Jean Joslin. He graduated from high school in April of 1974 in Frankfurt, Germany while serving in the United States Army. He married Cindy Grover, the love of his life, in 1985 in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Ed and Cindy had two children, Matthew Grover Joslin and Ashley Dawn Joslin. Ed also had a son, Jesse Greer Joslin (Hatch), from a previous marriage. They moved many times through the years, living in Idaho, Washington, Wyoming, and Arizona.
He started working at a very young age, mowing lawns at eight years old to earn money for his first motorcycle. From there he did farm work, learning to drive a grain truck at the age of twelve. Then he did line work at the Lamb Weston potato processing plant. He used his money to fund his motocross racing passion and to buy his first truck. At seventeen, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving first as a generator mechanic and later fueling helicopters. After his military service, Ed went on to work in various occupations: oil field worker, heavy equipment operator, pipe fitter, logger, gold miner, construction worker, and truck driver. He also worked in small businesses installing semi-truck tires and owned his own small gas engine repair shop. In 2007, while working in the oil field, Ed and Cindy bought their first semi-truck and started their own trucking company, ENC Trucking. For the next fourteen years, Ed alternated between working in the oil fields of North Dakota and cross-country trucking. He retired in 2022, settling down in Idaho Falls, Idaho to enjoy spending time with his family and friends.
Ed loved hunting and fishing and family trips in the mountains. He had a life-long passion for motorcycles: racing as a young man and later teaching his kids to ride dirt bikes, tear down and rebuild their bikes, and compete in races. Ed fulfilled a life-long dream in 2021 when he enjoyed a week-long, two-thousand-mile cross-country trip with Cindy and their son, Matthew, that included the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota. Another passion, that he shared with his brother, Ron, was gold mining. They owned two gold claims – one in Idaho City and one in Riggins. Together, they dredged the Salmon River, working from dawn until dark. They spent a full summer living on the river, dredging and panning. In their search for gold, they traversed the entire state of Idaho. Ed spent his last two years at home working on his projects, rebuilding engines, maintaining a beautiful yard, and sharing his stories and experiences. He adored his grandchildren and his greatest joy was having a houseful of family and friends.
Despite severe COPD breathing and heart issues, he was working on replacing the gas tanks on his truck and up on a ladder clearing out the gutters to prepare for spring the night before he went into the emergency room. After a twelve-day battle in the ICU, Ed ultimately succumbed to organ failure at 1:20 pm on April 16th, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the family home, 3870 East 65th South, Idaho Falls. Ed's remains will be escorted home by a motorcycle convoy of family and friends before the service takes place. Military rites will be performed after services at 3:00 p.m., by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Ed's remains will be scattered in the mountains of Georgetown Canyon to join with those of his mother and his niece. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has reached out to support them during this time.
Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
