Eleanore Louise Swanson, 100, of Idaho Falls, died May 29, 2012, at Good Samaritan Nursing Society Idaho Falls Village. Eleanore was born June 17, 1911, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Walter Maylon Eardley and Clara Minnie Ace Eardley. She grew up in Rock Springs and Idaho Falls. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and Westminster College. She later received her degree in education from Idaho State University. On Nov. 8, 1936, she married Cleveland Swanson in Idaho Falls. Eleanore was an elementary school teacher at the New Sweden and Riverside Elementary schools. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, a regent of Daughters of the American Revolution where she was the chairman of the college scholarship program; a member of the Idaho Falls Music Club, the Retired Teacher's Association, the Idaho Falls Women's Club and the Methodist Circle. Eleanore enjoyed photography and helped organize the Community Players. She was a warm, gracious lady who usually dressed in purple or lavender. Eleanore was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She is survived by the following: Daughters: Vera (Richard, deceased) Gillespie of Idaho Falls; Dolores (Ralph, deceased) Rapattoni of Santa Cruz, California; and Marilyn (Severino, deceased) Marcelo of Idaho Falls; Mary Swanson of Seattle, Washington; and Wendy Swanson of Meridian, Idaho; Sons: Fred Keith Swanson of Idaho Falls and David (Diane) Swanson of Richmond, California; a sister, Billie Fisher of Olympia, Washington; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, Cleve, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Blanche Pratt, Vera Lee, Margo Juner and Claramae Russell and a brother, Walter Eardley. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 N. Water, in Idaho Falls with Reverend Brenda Sene officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
