Obituary

Elizabeth (Betty) Rose Ivers Persky, 88 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Wednesday November 6, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was under the devoted care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. She was the first child born to Edward and Cameron (Mair) Ivers on Jan 13, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. Brothers, James and Edward completed the family. In Chicago, she attended both St. Casimir High School and the Chicago Business College. She met the love of her life, Walter Charles Persky, on March 15, 1946, and they were married on June 8, 1946, at St. Theodore Church in Chicago. To this union were born four children: Cameron (Candy), Bonnie, Robert (Rip) and Mark. Walter and Betty were given the opportunity by Argonne National Laboratory to relocate their family to Idaho Falls in 1959. At 34 years old, Betty reluctantly left the big city and found her forever home. Betty and Walt spent countless hours enjoying golfing at Pinecrest and Sandcreek. Her hobbies were golfing, traveling, bowling, pinochle, gin rummy, and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the York Grange. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband Walter (Jan 1983) and is survived by her daughters: Cameron (Bill) Bowman and Bonnie (Michael) Lineberry both of Idaho Falls; sons, Robert Persky of Idaho Falls and Mark (Patricia) Persky of Nipomo, California; Brothers: James Ivers and Edward Ivers both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren: Brian (Brandi) Cornelison, Troy Cornelison, Brock (Susan) Cornelison, Calvin (Shaunie) Bean, Scott Bean, Sean Persky, Stephanie Persky and Spencer Persky; and 21 great grandchildren. Betty was blessed with some wonderful friends. She always said she would have loved to have as adopted daughters, Velma Ketcher, Maryann Mahoney, Marsha Bell, Connie Rubright, and Debbie Erickson. A special thanks goes to the staff and students of Austin Kade Academy who kept Mom looking her best and always treated her with love and care. In lieu of flowers, Betty requested donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran, Idaho Falls, ID 83401. Private family graveside services will be held. The family invites friends for a Celebration of Betty's life on Saturday, November 9, 2013, from 1-4:00 p.m. at the Idaho Falls Elks Lodge, 640 E. Elva.
