Obituary

Emy Lou Winterbottom, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Emy was born on September 13, 1933, in Grayson County, Virginia to James Virgil Anderson and Sarah Mae Parks Anderson. She grew up in rural Virginia. She graduated from Independence High School in 1949. She furthered her education and received her teaching certificate.

Emy married Darrell Foster and they welcomed two children, Randall and Jeffrey. They later divorced. She married Al Winn, and they were later divorced. On November 18, 1992, she married E. Reese Winterbottom in Elko, Nevada.

She lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and worked for John Morrell Co. After she moved to San Diego, California she worked as a nurse's aide and then as a waitress. She then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, and started working as a waitress at the North Highway Café, Bubba's, the Stardust, and Dixie's Diner.

Emy enjoyed spending time with her family, whether camping, fishing, gambling, or just sitting around and having a great conversation.

The family would like to send great love and appreciation to the kind staff at EIRMC's Comfort Care floor for the wonderful care they gave to Emy.

She is survived by her husband, E. Reese Winterbottom of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Randall K. Foster of Idaho Falls; step-sons: Kyle (Pam) Winterbottom of Shelley, Idaho, Bryce Winterbottom, and Matthew (Celeste) Winterbottom both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; step-daughter, Nancy Winterbottom of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters: Lena Osborne of Sugar Grove, Virginia, Dorothy "Lucy" (Terry) Ray of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brande Stampfli of Spring Valley, California, Connie Gross of Seven Mile Ford, Virginia, and Sue Cressel of Bristol, Tennessee; brothers: William Gale (Betty) Anderson of Sugar Grove, Virginia, Ron (Theresa) Anderson of Sugar Grove, Virginia, and Rex Anderson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; eleven grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild with another on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffery T. Foster; and her brothers: Curtis Anderson, Herbert Anderson, and Robert Anderson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. The visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 a.m., prior to the service.
