Erma Harker Liljenquist Cox, 90, Idaho Falls resident, died May 6, 2008, at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 5, 1917, in Jameston, Idaho the daughter of Amos Harker and Hazle Augusta Lawson. She grew up in Shelley, Idaho, and graduated from Shelley High School in 1936. Erma married William Sevelle Liljenquist on December 23, 1937, in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. Sevelle died June 21, 1939 and she returned to Shelley with her twin baby daughters, Jean and Joan. She married Percy Miller Cox on December 31, 1942, in Shelley. She was a homemaker and was employed at Utah Power and Light Company, Shelley School Lunch, and as a bookkeeper for Kohler Building.
During her life she lived in Shelley; Los Angeles, California; Jameston, Woodville and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. Her favorite calling was serving on the Stake Primary Board.
Erma was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her six daughters. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, bowling, reading, playing the keyboard, and camping with friends. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Erma and Percy enjoyed spending the winter months in Arizona, California and Utah.
Survivors include: six daughters: Alene Cox (Thayne) Huntsman of Shelley;Jean Liljenquist Robison and Joan Liljenquist (Larry) Cheney both of Idaho Falls; Connie Cox (Val) Robison, Orem, Utah;Peggy Cox West (Mike) Plankinton of Fairplay, Colorado; and Barbara Cox (Melvin) Wheeler of Idaho Falls;sisters-in-law: Eva Harker and LaVerne Harker, both of Shelley; Bonnie Cox of Washington and Ruby Evans of Utah; brothers-in-law: Weldon Hawkins and William Cox both of Idaho Falls;brother and sister-in-law, Bob and (Doris) Cox of Rigby; 30 Grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by: both husbands, her parents, the following brothers and sisters: Anna Crooks, Norman, Hallace, Vincent, and Raymond Harker, Gladys Bair, Virginia Hawkins, son-in-laws: Weston K. Robison, Von J. Hill, David L. West and one grandchild, Richard Val Robison.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Ammon 6th Ward LDS Chapel, 2150 Avocet with Bishop Randy Hurley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
