He was born March 9, 1951, in Idaho Falls, to Christian Mortensen and Viola Lake Mortensen.

Hew grew up and attended school in Idaho Falls.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his father, Christian Mortensen; his mother, Viola L. Petersen; his brother, Val Dean Mortensen; a step-brother, Earl Petersen; a step-brother, Jay Petersen; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward Chapel. Interment was in the Sugar City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
