Evangelina "Eva" Salazar, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at her home of natural causes. She was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico, to Natividad Huerta and Christina Escalera. On Feb. 9, 1938, she married Francisco Salazar Alaniz. He passed away April 27, 2001. Eva enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, crocheting, reading and solving puzzles -- especially crosswords. She was a caring, loving and very hospitable person; she was compassionate toward everyone she met. She was a Jehovah's Witness who enjoyed studying the Bible as well as sharing the Bible with others. Eva is survived by her son, Moises Salazar; daughters, Maria Elena Santos, Crisanta Sotelo, Maria Socorro Salazar and Enedina Cortez; brother, Natividad Huerta; 23 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco Salazar Alaniz; three sisters, Artemia Huerta, Soledad Moreno and Aurelia Guerrero; and brothers, Zeferino Huerta and Moises Huerta. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, and for one hour before services Tuesday, both at the mortuary. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery.
