Obituary

Eva Lucile Davis Stanger was born May 28, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the oldest child of James and Linda Davis.  She lived outside of Iona and in the Bone area for the first five years of her life.  When she turned six her parents purchased their home in Iona.  Eva was a true "Iona-ite," having lived in this wonderful community her entire life. She graduated from Iona High School in 1947.  She went to Albion where she graduated with an education degree.

She taught school in Blackfoot and Osgood, then Eva began teaching for District #93. Most of the time at Iona Elementary School.  She taught school for 43 years and has influenced the lives of many children.  Teaching was her passion and it was a thrill when her past students would stop and say hello and reminisce.

On June 1, 1950, Eva married the love of her life, an Iona boy, Clive "Pete" Stanger.  She described her early married life as a two-year honeymoon.  They lived in the hills running sheep during the summer and then back to the valley for the school year. Eva and Pete had 4 children: Kirk, Cindy, Linda, and Frank.

Eva was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in the Primary and Relief Society. In March of 1990, Eva and Pete were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Their family became a forever family.

She was a diligent, kind, and loving visiting teacher for many years.  Her sweetheart passed away in the fall of 1990, leaving her alone for 26 years. After his death, she devoted her time to her mother and her children.

When she retired from teaching she traveled a bit with her friend Liza Porter, they toured Egypt and the Holy Land.  She also was privileged to take many trips with her brother Art and Carroll Davis and his children.  These were wonderful, precious, memories.

Eva's health began to decline and in January of 2015, she moved in with her daughter, Cindy. Through all her health problems she never complained, she endured well all the trials she was given and taught all how to love, serve, and endure with patience.

Eva passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the age of 87.  She is now rejoicing with her love and many other family members who have passed on.

She is survived by her son, Kirk Stanger, daughter, Cindy Quiroz, son, Frank (Bridgett) Stanger all of Iona, and daughter, Linda (Evan) Rice of Ucon. One brother, Art (Carroll) Davis of Roswell, New Mexico; 18 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Clive B.(Pete) Stanger; granddaughter, Courtney Stanger; brother, Bill Davis; and sister, Louella Davis.

Her life was a treasure, and she will be missed by many.
