Evan Parley Peterson, 78, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away September 6, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born August 29, 1938, in Ovid, Idaho, to Harley Peterson and Maybell Nebeker Peterson. Evan grew up in Ovid and attended Fielding High School in Paris, Idaho where he graduated in 1956.
On July 9, 1960, he married Kolleen Nelson in Driggs, Idaho. After 34 years of marriage, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Evan worked in Ovid and then spent three summers working in West Yellowstone before moving to Idaho Falls where he became a truck driver for Garrett Freight Lines.
Evan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he had served in the Stake Sunday School Presidency.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kolleen Peterson of Idaho Falls; Sons: Wade (Dawna) Peterson, Dale Peterson, Eric Peterson all of Idaho Falls and Brett (Dana) Peterson of Layton, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Peterson of Murray, Utah, and a brother, Allen Peterson of Wylie, Texas.
Evan was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Jolene Peterson.
Graveside services will be at 12 noon today, Thursday September 8, 2016 at the Sugar City Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls.
