Fay Heyrend, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, surrounded by her family at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, from causes due to incident to age.
Fay was born on August 19, 1933, in Iona, Idaho, to Joseph Lorenzo and Eunice Cherlottie Bateman. She was the youngest of 10 children. She attended school in Iona. After her dad's death, the family moved into Idaho Falls where she attended O.E. Bell Junior High School and Idaho Falls High School.
On July 10, 1951, she married her true love, Lloyd Heyrend. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 23, 1965. They were married for 56 years, until his death on May 27, 2007. They lived on their farm in Rigby for 11 years, and then they moved back to Idaho Falls.
Mom did odd jobs that she could do to be at home with her kids. Some of the jobs included babysitting, making pictures in their home dark room, growing and selling raspberries. In her younger years she worked in a bakery, alongside her mother.
Fay was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom loved serving in the church. She served in many positions including, Primary, Young Women's and several Relief Society presidencies. She was a Den mother for many years and loved the boys as her own.
She loved family history work, crocheting, gardening (she could make anything grow), hunting, fishing, loved flowers and just spending time with her family.
Fay had an unbelievable passion for life, family, the gospel, laughter and good times.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her family was her world and her life and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Renda (Jack L.) Smith, of Idaho Falls; her sons: Randy (Linda) Heyrend, of Ucon, Idaho, Ron Heyrend, of Shelley, Idaho, and Todd (Jacque) Heyrend, of Archer, Idaho; her sister Fern Scott, Idaho Falls, Idaho, 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters, her parents, and her great-granddaughter, Makyla Neiderer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, with Jack L. Smith officiating. The family will visit with family and friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Coltrin Mortuary, and one hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
