Obituary

Ferna Jewell Connell Berrett, 91, of Idaho Falls, died November 29, 2011 at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. Ferna was born October 26, 1920, in Rigby, Idaho, to Henry Samuel Connell and Hattie Luella Catherine Rapp Connell. She grew up in Clark Ward and attended high school in Roberts where she graduated in 1938. On June 22, 1939 she married Arthur Charles Berrett in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in Rigby, Roberts, and Idaho Falls. Arthur passed away November 26, 1994. She worked as a nurse at the Hatch Clinic, for Dr. J. D.Davis and at the Idaho Falls Eye Clinic. Ferna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in the Relief Society and in the Young Women organization. She served in the Costa Rica Mission as a nurse and she served a second mission to the Family History Center in Idaho Falls. She taught English and at the Roberts Community Center and to Hispanic children at Bush Elementary School. Ferna enjoyed Spanish, painting, doing genealogy, writing poetry and stories, reading, computers and learning. She loved nursing and helping people. She was compassionate and understanding. She laughed easily, loved life and loved those around her. She is survived by the following: Sons: A Kim (JaNeal) Berrett of Idaho Falls and Craig J. (Peggy) Berrett of Kaysville, Utah; Daughter, Merri Ann (Jeff) Denton of Bremerton, Washington; Sister, Della Woods of Roberts; and 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Mitchell, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS 13th Ward Chapel with Bishop Greg Poulter officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday evening, December 2, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls, and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls for the wonderful care Ferna received while she was a resident this past year.
