Floyd "Skip" Ray Mitchell, 67, of Shelley, Idaho, died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at his home in Shelley of natural causes. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. He was born April 16, 1943, in Shelley, Idaho, to Floyd and Verna Nelson Mitchell. He grew up in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School in 1961. He was a member of the United States Army. He married Maureen Savory and they were later divorced. On June 5, 1969, he married Sherri Berrett in Salmon, Idaho. She died on March 27, 2010. He lived in Idaho, Utah and Nevada and drilled water wells for 32 years. He also worked for the National Mustang Association and the site. He was a welder, equipment operator and hunting guide. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a golden glove boxing champion. He loved horses and devoted many years to working with them. He rode saddle Broncs and loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. Floyd was a hard working and devoted husband, father, grandfather with a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room. He is survived by the following: Daughter, Laurie (Anthony) Jaramillo of Ashton Daughter, Ronda (Jim) Barney of Escalante, Utah Son, Rick (Becky) Mitchell of Shelley Son, Robert Mitchell of Shelley Son, Rory (Jenifer) Mitchell of Cedar City, Utah Son, Matthew Mitchell of Idaho Falls Sister, Ann (Ed) West of Idaho Falls Sister, LaNae (Ed) Parsons of Idaho Falls 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherri Berrett Mitchell, his parents and a brother, Dean Mitchell. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011, at the Woodville LDS Church, 1555 N. 700 E., Shelley, Idaho, with Bishop Gary Dial officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Military Honor Guard immediately following the services.
