IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floyd Melvin
Scott
July 13, 1956 – November 12, 2025
Floyd Melvin Scott was born July 13, 1956, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Gladys Stratton and Melvin Scott. After a courageous battle with lung cancer and COPD, he passed away on November 12, 2025, at his home in Rigby, Idaho, surrounded by family and under the care of Solace Hospice.
Floyd grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School. Throughout his life, he worked many jobs, his first being as a painter. In 2020, he retired from Idahoan.
On August 2, 1991, Floyd married Jodey Tolley and lovingly took in her three children as his own. In 1998, Floyd legally adopted Sean. They took legal guardianship of Robert in 1996. Together, they lived in Utah, Boise, and eventually settled in Rigby, Idaho, in the early 2000s.
Floyd enjoyed fishing, camping, knapping, riding four-wheelers, fixing up cars, and spending time with his grandkids. He was always up for an adventure—whether it meant heading out on a camping trip, riding four-wheelers, or even fixing up a lawn mower to pull his grandkids around the yard. A true jack of all trades, Floyd could fix just about anything. One of his proudest projects was restoring a 1936 Pontiac Cherokee, which he showcased at many car shows across eastern Idaho.
He loved collecting and listening to records, building a collection of more than 50 albums. His favorite band was Pink Floyd, and he was rarely seen without his tie-dye—his signature look, wherever he went.
Floyd's greatest joy in life was being a grandpa. He loved entertaining his grandchildren, building a trailer for his lawn mower just so he could give them rides around the yard. He never minded getting into a little trouble with Grandma if it meant the grandkids were having fun. He loved Oreos, movie nights, and teaching his family everything he could. In the last five years, he took up knapping and proudly made knives and arrowheads for his loved ones.
He earned the title of "Greatest Grandpa in the World," and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Floyd is survived by his children: Theron Sean (Shannon) Scott of Rexburg, Idaho; Robert Welch of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Sara Young of Pocatello, Idaho. His grandchildren: Christina Lison of Rigby, Idaho; Jordyn Gebarowski (Wyatt) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Teejay Scott (Zoee) of Thornton, Idaho; Christian Morrison of Pocatello, Idaho; Tabitha Scott of Rexburg, Idaho; Marleigh Welch and Ava Welch of Twin Falls, Idaho. His great-grandchildren include Emma Lison of Rigby, Idaho, with another on the way.
He is also survived by his siblings: Linda (Tim) Terry, Loretta (Owen) Crockett, Linett Christensen, Laura (Jerry) Jones, Lamar (Nancy) Scott, and Lynn (Camille) Scott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and his beloved dog, Shelly.
Services will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent to the Family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
