Obituary

Frances Gulde Schwendiman, 97, of Idaho Falls, died August 15, 2006, at Lincoln Court.

She was born July 16, 1909 in St. Gallen, Switzerland to Franziska Gulde and step-father, Johann Schmid. Her mother died when she was 8 years old and her step-father was declared missing in action during World War I.. Her aunt and uncle, Anna and Simon Wachter became her guardians. She grew up and attended school in St. Gallen. She went to trade school where she became a tailor and professional seamstress. In 1951, she came to the United States at the request of John Schwendiman.

She married John Schwendiman in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He died in August 1975.

She was a Pink Lady at the LDS hospital, a seamstress at the Idaho Falls LDS temple and served at the Family History Center in Idaho Falls.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. She served missions in the Family History Center in Salt Lake City and Idaho Falls.

She enjoyed traveling and sewing.

She was a devoted wife, was faithful to her religion, and endured well to the end.

She is survived by the following: niece, Hilde (William) Remsburg of Idaho Falls niece, Maja (Gerald) Peck of Altlanta, Georgia step-son, Mark (Louise) Schwendiman of Newdale, ID step-daughter, Ardell (Orson) Casper of Bountiful, UT numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schwendiman; step-sons, John L. Schwendiman, Alvin Schwendiman, and Glenn Schwendiman and step-daughter, Milda Smith.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls with Bishop Kevin Hathaway of the Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery. On line condolences may be made to the family at www. coltrinmortuary.com.
