Frances (Fran) May Williams Sheppard passed away peacefully at her home in Bountiful, Utah on July 1, 2014. She was born on July 17, 1930 in Rawlins, Wyoming, the second of 3 children, to Francis Earl Williams and Louise Lewis Williams Miers. She grew up in western Wyoming and Driggs, Idaho, and later Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. While living and working in Idaho Falls as a telephone switchboard operator she met Rex Sheppard at a local dance on Christmas Eve 1949. They fell in love and married on June 9th, 1950 and were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in January 1951. Fran was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including serving a full time mission with Rex in the Seattle, Washington area. She also served as a weekly ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She had a beautiful singing voice and shared it as a member of the Chansonettes musical group for many years. She enjoyed bowling on ladies leagues at Bowlero Lanes in Idaho Falls and snowmobiling with Rex and the Ammon Trail Riders. Fran loved Island Park and Redfish Lake and the family spent many summer weeks there -- first in tents, then campers and motor homes. Rex and Fran built a homey cabin on Bill's Island in Island Park and loved to entertain friends and relatives there. Many a card game was played around the big circular game table. Later in life, they enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home visiting family and friends. As a lifelong member of the Republican Party, Fran served as president of the Bonneville County Republican Women's Organization and later as a delegate to the Republican convention in Davis County, Utah. Fran is survived by her sister Roxie (Bill deceased) Fager, Idaho Falls, ID and brother Frank (June) Williams, Pocatello, ID; four children, Mark (Val) Oregon City, OR; Bradley (Carol) Richmond, VA; Carol (Randy) Montgomery, W. Bountiful, UT; and Kenneth (Jill), St. George, UT; 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Rex. They were married for 56 years.
