White
August 10, 1925 – July 23, 2008
Francis Eugene "Gene" White, 82, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and St. George, Utah, died July 23, 2008, at his home in Idaho Falls. He was under the care of Hospice Alliance.
He was born August 10, 1925, in Plano, Idaho, to Nofear Dennis White and Elsie Croney White. He grew up and attended school in Plano and Parker. In 1943, he graduated from Edmunds High School. He attended Ricks College where he earned a degree in electronics. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
On November 20, 1947, he married Dolores Orgill in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She passed away on December 12, 2003. Following his service in the Army, they worked on a small farm near Wilford, Idaho. In 1955, he began working in Idaho Falls for the U.S. Weather Bureau later known as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from which he retired in 1984.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many positions including the Coltman Ward Bishopric. He and his wife served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City from 1992-1993 and as LDS representatives at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was affiliated with a musical group that entertained at local area retirement centers. He enjoyed electronics, music, and traveling throughout North America, Hong Kong, and Europe.
Gene was a gentle, patient, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and well respected by all that met him.
He is survived by the following: daughters: Christine (Scott) Anderson and Connie Rae (Bruce) Radford both of Idaho Falls; daughter, Kim (Robert) Hendricks of Draper, Utah; brother, Jay (Lawana, deceased) White of Idaho Falls; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Dennis; his wife, Dolores; a sister, Selma White, and a brother, Reed White.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Ammon LDS 6th Ward, 2150 Avocet with Bishop Randy Hurley officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park with military rites by the Bonneville County veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
