Fredric (Fred) James French, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020, at his home.

Fred was born on December 1, 1946, in Sidney, Nebraska to Walter M and Priscilla Anne Edwards French. He grew up in Northeastern Colorado. He graduated from Peetz Colorado High School in 1964. He went on to earn his BA Business Administration degree from Chadron State College in Nebraska.

He joined the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War as a signal repairman.

In February 1970, he married Katherine (Ronnie) Helmig. They were blessed with four daughters: Jennifer, Megan, Amy, and Rebecca. They were later divorced. He married Judy Redman in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On April 8, 2006, he married Cheryl Ellis. They were later divorced.

Fred's latest employment was as a safety engineer for CWI and Fluor Idaho at the ICP project from 2005-2020. He loved living in Idaho for the past 15 years.

He enjoyed coin collecting, scientific endeavors, was a recreational mathematician, and a member of 7K Metals.

Fred was a very special person. He was a loving father, brother, husband, and co-worker. He never met a stranger he didn't like. Fred was very outgoing and the life of the party.

He is survived by his daughters: Jennifer Boyd of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Megan French of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Amy (Jono) Cowdry of Sydney, Australia, and Rebecca (Tom) McCandless of Virginia; his brother, Charlie (Irene) French of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his sisters: Pam French of Ammon, Idaho, and Rosanne (Rod) Rezac of Cody, Wyoming; 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Priscilla French; his brother Daniel French and Judy Redman French.

Memorial Services will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Due to Covid-19 the family encourages everyone to follow social distancing guidelines. The services will be broadcast online on Coltrin Mortuary's Facebook page at facebook.com/coltrinmortuary. Military Rites will immediately follow the service. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Colorado.
